Monday, September 18th, 2006

Painting of the restroom and kitchen was finished last Saturday. Toilet partitions (with the exception of one panel in the women's restroom) and toilet accessories will be completed this week. This leaves the restrooms complete except for ceiling tile and some touch up painting. The kitchen is also complete except ceiling tile. The ceiling tile will be installed when the ceiling subcontractor returns to complete the lower level.

Doors and trim for the first floor are being stained and sealed this week.

The elevator contractor will continue elevator construction this week.
Roofing and metal trim on the exterior will be installed this week.
Brickwork is complete. Siding will be installed after roof trim is on, then sidewalks and seeding at the front.

Exterior should be complete by the end of the month.

Tuesday, September 5th, 2006

We will have the bathrooms operational by the end of the week. The toilet partitions have been delayed till next Monday, so we won't be able to finish until the end of the week. The Kitchen flooring will go in this week, with cabinets finished next week. The kitchen will be operational by the end of next week. Brick will be completed by the end of this week on the elevator tower. The glass entry is about a week and a half out. The elevator was delivered today, and installation of the elevator will begin next week (usually takes about two weeks for the initial install. At that point the finishes in the entry and areas torn up in the lower level can proceed.

This week, we will partially backfill the foundation allowing the Plumber to finish his water service to the building for the new fire sprinkler system.
Once that work is completed, the remaining backfill will take place. That means that the big hole should disappear early next week. After the backfill is complete, we have one additional foundation wall to pour against the existing building,

and the floor slab in the basement level elevator hallway.

In addition, we will also be constructing the perimeter walls around the enlarged men's and women's restrooms and the Kitchen.

We will not tear into these areas, until August 7 (after VBS is complete).

Just to let everyone Know, when we tear apart the restrooms, we will need to use the basement restrooms for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.

You should see more visual evidence that there is construction going on this week other than a large hole.

The elevator footing will be poured and foundation walls will begin.

Not much new to report. Underpinning is continuing.

The water main for the fire sprinkler system is run from the street to the end of the driveway.

Tuesday, May 30th, 2006

This week, Thursday, we will begin construction of the Entrance/ Elevator Addition on the South end of the church by excavating for the foundation. After excavating, we need to pour a concrete retaining wall under the existing footings (called underpinning).
This will take some time, so other than the hole, there won't be a lot to notice visually.
