You are always welcome at Encounter!
Encounter is a group of students that meet together as a youth group. Students from 7th grade and up are always welcome to Encounter. We usually meet on Wednesday night's at Christ Is Lord Free Lutheran Church in Onalaska, Wisconsin. Our Wednesday nights consist of Games, Praise & Worship Time, Prayer Huddles, Small Groups, Bible Study Session, and occasionally, Four on a Couch!
We have several ministries alongside our Wednesday night program.
DIG
On Sunday nights, we have DIG. That is, Develop In God. This group meets at our Youth Pastor's home, and it is only Bible Study. We take a passage of Scripture each week, and apply the IQA method of studying. We first look for any Insights about the passage of Scripture. Next we write down any Questions we have. Finally, we think of how we can Apply that passage of Scripture to our everyday life. We also spend time sharing with each other about how we are doing in our walks with the Lord. It is a very open and honest time of sharing. We keep each other accountable that way.
FAITH ON FIRE
Faith on Fire is a drama ministry of Christ Is Lord Free Lutheran Church. The group travels and performs at churches. To learn more about Faith On Fire, click here.
PURPOSE
The reason why Encounter exists, is to GLORIFY our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the reason why we do anything. We understand that in and of ourselves, nothing good can come forth. It is only because of the Lord we are here. We want to proclaim the Law and Gospel to all that come. It is our desire for others to have a consistent walk with the Lord. Encounter is here to be a help in any way in maintaining that walk with the Lord, and to be an encourager through it. Encounter also serves as a safe-haven for students who are struggling. It gives opportunity to share with each other, our struggles, and to receive prayer. We are a family, and we want to be there for each other. The BOTTOM LINE, we are here to Glorify the Lord together.
